Americans blame Bush for bad Economy

Yahoo | Despite Republican efforts to blame the current state of the US economy on President Obama, it appears that most Americans are in agreement with the Obama administration and are still inclined to place a greater portion of the blame on his predecessor, President George W. Bush.

According to a Gallup poll released Thursday, 68 percent of Americans believe that Bush deserves a great deal/moderate amount of blame for the economy. When asked the same question of Obama, 52 percent said that the incumbent president shouldered a great deal/moderate amount of blame.

When the question was first asked in July 2009, Bush was “assessed” 80 percent of a majority of the blame, Obama 32 percent. But, then, Obama had only been president for six months.
